About me

This is me.  Julissa Fernandez.  I've been on this journey since 2007.  That's when it started.  Life as I knew it was pretty much over.  I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.  And nothing was ever the same.  It was a wake up call to get healthy and conscience of the world around me.  I don't like bringing up the Breast Cancer but unfortunately it is a part of my life.   During Chemotherapy :(  I had the genetic test done and was also made aware that I had the BRCA 2 gene. With that new information I decided to have a double mastectomy with reconstruction and an oopherectomy.  Fun, I know. But I started reading and googling and found so much information about the foods we eat and the chemicals we live with and decided alot had to change.  I needed to be as healthy as I could be for myself and my family. The journey is long and I am still learning everyday.   I don't want this blog to solely focus on cancer but on living beyond cancer.  I don't want cancer to define me.  I don't and wont wear anything with the pink ribbon as I have my issues with Susan G. Komen.  But cancer was and is a part of my life and I don't want to forget either.  It's also the very reason I am on this journey.  This blog is about getting healthy and living green and everything in between.  Life is to be lived to the fullest.  We are to grow and learn and give back and help others along the way.  I hope my blog can inspire or help others to make changes for their health and their family.  As so many others have done for me.  God Bless!
