Juicing!

Ahhh! Juicing...What a long journey this has been.  For the past several years we have been juicing our vegetables.  Oh but how quickly we'd get lazy and juice a day and skip 3 days.  I am glad to say this has all changed!  For the past several months we have truly gotten serious with our juicing.  We invested in a new juicer and never looked back.

What's great about this baby is that it masticates the vegetable to prevent oxidation.  We can also juice and store for a couple of days.  The booklet says up to 3 days.  I don't store more than up to 2 days.  But it sure beats juicing every day.  We store our juice in mason jars.  Click here for more info on the different types of juicers.

I don't really use any particular recipe.  I get what's in season at our favorite local organic farm bloominghillfarm.com and mix them up.  Lately we've been buying red cabbage, beets, carrots, kale, swiss chard, parsley, celery, romaine, granny smith apples. Beets and Carrots and apple tend to be higher in sugars so we mix them separately at times.  Whatever combination we make we always add ginger and lemon. For Bunny's juice we only use carrots, green apple or pear, orange and kale.  She drinks it right up!
